Kenny Hart with K.C. Hart & Company will be with us all day Saturday presenting on the following topics:

“How a Plumber Inspects the Plumbing”

With more than 40 years in the plumbing and mechanicals trades Kenny will share his somewhat unique look at home inspection regarding the plumbing portion of the work. This presentation takes you through the plumbing portion of a home inspection where Kenny will identify the more common defects and concerns home inspectors routinely find with this portion of the home inspection. But he will also go beyond that and focus on some of the more specific areas of concern. He will offer up a few tricks of the trades for finding defects and explain some simple cures. The extensive use of images, animations and anecdotal stories from the Master Plumber, HVAC Tech and Gas Fitter turned home inspector always makes this presentation informative and fun.

“Water Heaters, Storage Tank to Tankless”

Water heaters are changing. Newer, safer and more efficient designs are putting a variety of products in homes. Just recognizing the new equipment can be tough. This session will help you identify and understand old and new equipment operation. FVIR designs have changed gas water heaters throughout the industry. Tankless water heaters are selling big and heat pump water heaters are now showing up in a few homes as well. We’ll examine them all and discuss how contractors and do-it-yourselfers get hot water to bathrooms faster. You’ll learn a few trouble-shooting tips along the way. And if you like things that go boom, you’ll see a water heater explode, during this session too.

“Air Conditioning Fundamentals and A/C Inspections”

Basic air conditioning fundamentals and the refrigeration circuit are explained during this session. As with most of Kenny’s slide show presentations, terrific animations make the fundamentals easy to understand. Learn why dirty coils, both evaporators and condensers, can be expensive if overlooked during a home inspection. Equipment location concerns, duct issues and electrical problems are all discussed. Tons of defect photos from years of HVAC installations, service work and more are included in this presentation.

Then on Sunday, we welcome Cassie McGovern, Sr. Human Services Program Specialist, Community Health – Drowning Prevention, with the Florida Department of Health in Broward County.  She, along with FABI board members Manny Gonzalez and Jeff Clair, will team up to provide an awesome presentation on Pool Inspections and Drowning Prevention.

Plus, optional additional courses and credits planned for Friday, September 15 for those wishing to earn all 14 renewal credits for their HI license or just wanting refreshers.
